RULES

  • 2 stocks
  • No items
  • 6 minute time limit
  • Double elimination bracket, each match is best of 3 games until Winner’s Finals, Loser’s Finals, and Grand Finals, all of which are best of 5
  • All characters and DLC characters are legal, customs are banned
  • Starter stages:
    • Battlefield
    • Final Destination
    • Smashville
    • Town and City
    • Dreamland
  • Counterpicks (can only be played on after the first game)
    • Duck Hunt
    • Lylat Cruise
  • Other stages can only be played on if both players agree to it (gentleman’s)
  • How stage striking will work:
    • Characters chosen (can be blind picks if a player wishes, ask for TO)
    • Rock paper scissors (winner of RPS is designated as Player 1)
    • Player 1 strikes a Starter stage they do not want to play on
    • Player 2 strikes two more stages
    • Player 1 strikes one stage, and the remaining stage is where the first game will be played
  • How counterpicking will work:
    • Winner of previous game bans one stage from all stages, including Counterpicks
    • Loser of previous game selects stage from remaining stages
    • Winner selects character
    • Loser selects character
    • NOTE: You cannot select a stage you have previously won on in that set unless the other player consents. A bracket reset in Grand Finals refreshes all stages.
  • In the event of a time-out (a game ends without a player’s stocks being eliminated) the player with the higher stock count, and then lower % if stock count is tied, is the winner of the game. If % is tied, a 4 minute, 1 stock game will be played on the same stage to break the tie.

Tetris

Qualifying rounds:

To qualify players Must inform registration that they are playing a qualifying game for the tournament. The players will be given one attempt on A mode on any level above level 5. 

Challengers will be able to track their position in the tournament live on a public google spreadsheet, as well as a whiteboard at the qualifying area.

The top 16 players will advance into the next rounds of play.

The following rounds consist of head to head matches with two TVs, starting on any level, going for high score, best out of three advancing.  

The 16 would be put into a straightforward bracket where number one plays number 16 2 plays 15 and so on. Then a quarterfinals and semis each based on 3 game sets.
The finals would be based on a 5 game set.

Mario Kart

Gamer’s Rhapsody will host a friendly Mario Kart 8 tournament. All attendees are welcome to participate.

Rules:

  • 4 Player VS
  • All CPU players will be turned off.
  • Each round will consist of a 4-race Grand Prix.
  • Only shells.
  • DLCs allowed.
  • All tracks will be randomized.
  • Karts and Bikes allowed.
  • All characters except Miis.
  • Any controller allowed except Wii U Gamepad
  • You may use your own controller

To sign up, visit the main registration with your badge and you’ll be placed in the bracket. The top 2 players from each 4 player race will advance. The final 4 players will compete in 3 rounds of 4 race Grand Prix. The player with the highest combined score will be the winner.

Mario Maker

Are you a Super Mario Platforming wiz? Can you take on the hardest challenges? Then join us for a Mario Maker Tournament. Players will take turns completing levels.

Round 1:

1/4 Levels, 2 lives. Each player will have the option of selecting 1 out of 4 levels. They will get 2 lives to complete the stage. Those who complete a single level will move to round 2

Round 2:

2/4 Levels: 2 Lives. Similar to round 1, players will get the option of selecting their own 2 levels, but in order to qualify for round 3, they must complete two levels, with 2 lives per level.

Round 3:

3/4 Levels: 2 Lives.

Round 4:

4/4 Levels 2 Lives.

Should there be a tie in the final round, the player with the fastest time will be the winner.
